Runners Take To The Streets Of Paris For The Half Marathon

    PARIS, FRANCE, January 28, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sporty types have the perfect opportunity to don their trainers and tracksuits if they book hotels in Paris at the beginning of March.

The city's Half Marathon will take place on March 7th - after a change of date - and about 27,000 people have already registered.

This year's event will be the 18th edition of the race, which begins at 10:00 local time and sees participates run around 21.1 km of the city's famous streets.

Runners begin at Esplanade de Chateau de Vincennes and complete a circuit to end up back at the same place, which it is expected will take a maximum of two hours and 50 minutes.

All ranked athletes are presented with a souvenir model and diploma, which may spur them on even more.

With only seven weeks to go before race day, the event organisers urge competitors to "think about your timing target" and note that as the snow has now melted in the city, runners can once again take to the streets to train.

The route takes in the likes of Quai des Celestins, Boulevard Bourdon, Place de la Bastille and Place de la Pyramide, which is located in the 1st arrondissement of Paris and features a statue of Joan of Arc sitting atop a golden horse.
