EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND, January 30, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- As the new Harry Potter attraction--Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey--is scheduled to open this Spring at Universal Resort's Islands of Adventure theme park, cheap tickets search engine Skyscanner sees a major boom in searches for hotels and cheap tickets to Orlando.
Skyscanner US Travel Editor, Scot Carlson says "Our numbers for Florida have spiked dramatically, with Orlando raking in over 40% of all destinations-searched. Additionally, our hotel searches in the Orlando-area have spiked a staggering 509%!"
Now, while Orlando has always been a big draw for international tourists, these figures were based solely on US-and-Canadian based search results. And while it can be said that tickets to Florida are always popular this time of year, Skyscanner has seen significant spikes in search results every time news of the new Harry Potter attraction hits the web. The latest buzz has been around a picture released, depicting the attraction's focal-point, a recreation of the famous Hogwart's Castle. Immediately following its release, Skyscanner searches for cheap tickets to Orlando spiked over 200%!
Scot adds: "Having just returned from a vacation in Orlando, I can say that the Harry Potter experience looks quite amazing! Crowds were gathering outside the construction areas, trying to peek through the walls to see what I am sure will be an amazing experience; I really can't wait to go back and see it when it's open."
Wizarding World of Harry Potter opens at Universal Studios in April in time for the spring break getaway.
