BOCA RATON, FL, February 11, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Over 26 million Americans suffer from the neurologic disorder of migraine, according to the American Medical Association. No medical test exists for migraine, so the diagnosis is based on having some or all of the following symptoms: About 20 percent of migraine sufferers experience visual and other disturbances about 15 minutes before the head pain. These symptoms, collectively known as "aura," may include flashing lights, zig-zag lines, bright spots, loss of part of one's field of vision, or numbness or tingling in the hand, tongue, or side of the face. Migraines preceded by an aura are called classic migraines; all others are referred to as common migraines.
"As a sufferer of migraines myself, I know firsthand the debilitating effects migraines can cause to the ones that are experiencing them," said the vp of programming. "I can remember times in my younger days that I would have to stay out of the sun, or stay home from school because the pain that was coming from my temple areas was unbearable. After many eye exams, and brain scans, I was told by the physicians that I will either grow out of them, or will have to deal with being a migraine sufferer all my life." The executive producer said, "This program is going help people become educationally aware of how to deal with migraines, their causes, and treatments."
For the millions of people that are having a hard time each day living a normal productive life due to having migraines, this series will unlock the resources needed to have them under more able control.
