AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND, February 23, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The announcement of a one-off performance by the Stereophonics is creating excitement among music fans in Auckland.
Following the release of their seventh studio album Keep Calm and Carry On last year, the Welsh rockers are set to play at the New Zealand city's Powerstation venue on April 22nd.
Tickets will go on sale later this month and fans can take advantage of a special offer to access a free download of the new album.
According to the New Zealand website Voxy, the band first performed in the country in 1997 and sold out two Auckland concerts in 2008.
Stereophonics have been steadily building a large international fanbase since the release of their debut album Word Gets Around in 1997.
In 2005, the four-piece achieved a UK number one single in the UK with the release of Dakota.
People who have used hotels in Auckland may already be familiar with the Powerstation, which has been hosting top bands from around the world since the mid-1980s.
Radiohead played their first gig in New Zealand at the venue in 1994, while acts such as Public Enemy, Marilyn Manson, Debbie Harry and the Beastie Boys have all appeared there.
Forthcoming concerts at the Powerstation include US rock veterans Pixies and rap star Raekwon of the Wu-Tang Clan.
