SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, February 23, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The 2010 Surry Hills Festival may be on the agenda for people booking hotels in Sydney in April.
As the annual event's usual home in Prince Alfred Park is currently undergoing redevelopment work, this year's festival will be spread across several sites in the suburb.
Ward Park on Devonshire Street and Crown Street's Shannon Reserve are expected to be the focal points of the event, which takes place on Saturday April 10th.
Originating as a celebration of the creative community in Surry Hills, the festival consists of live music from local artists, special food stalls selling homemade delicacies and a variety of amusements to keep children entertained.
According to the organisers, this year's event will have a "community picnic feel" and "satellite events" have been scheduled for various venues around Surry Hills.
Music fans can look forward to performances from an eclectic range of bands, including folk, jazz, rock, indie, dance and world music acts.
The festival is organised by the Surry Hills Neighbourhood Centre as a method of raising funds for community activities throughout the year.
Entry to the festival sites is by donation and the event is due to run from 09:30 to 18:00 local time.
Situated south-east of Sydney's central business district, Surry Hills is known for its high proportion of art galleries, antique dealers, fashion wholesalers and street cafes.
