    MADRID, SPAIN, February 28, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A new exhibition being held at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and Fundacion Caja Madrid delves into the work of acclaimed Impressionist Claude Monet to understand his influence on the Abstract Expressionism movement.

The work is set up in thematic strands within the two venues and each of his paintings is juxtaposed with another work to highlight "parallels and coincidences that enrich the viewer's experience", according to the organisers.

Reuters noted that brightly coloured backgrounds on the walls have been used to change the way the eye sees paintings.

Fans of his work will be sure to want to see this intriguing exhibition during their stay at hotels in Madrid and can do so until May 30th.

While five of the seven sections are being showcased at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, for a full understanding of the exhibition's message people should head to Fundacion Caja Madrid as well.

"Monet was able to transform the Impressionists' observation of nature into a new apprehension of the artistic medium," noted the former venue.

Both facilities are within easy walking distance from each other and while the Fundacion Caja Madrid is free to get in, it will cost EUR8 (GBP7) to enter the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum.

Fundacion is open from 10:00 to 20:00 (local time) Tuesday to Sunday, while the latter opens its doors from 10:00 to 19:00.
