AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND, March 05, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- People booking Auckland hotels next month may find that their visit coincides with Living Room 2010.
Running from April 9th to 18th, this public event features live performance art, film and video works, all taking place on the streets of the city's central business district.
Local art critic Pontus Kyander is the curator for this year's festival, which will reflect the theme of A Week of Goodness.
Having previously worked on public art projects alongside Auckland City Council, Kyander will be presenting an exciting line-up of homegrown talent and international artists.
According to the organisers, Living Room will use concepts of giving and kindness as "a departure point for a flight of associations, bearing constantly in mind that every gift comes with a string attached".
Visual artists taking part in the event include New Zealanders Phil Dadson and Jill Kennedy, Sweden's Annika Larsson and Paula Roush from the UK.
Choreographers such as Carol Brown, Sean Curham, Mark Harvey and Charles Koroneho will also make a contribution.
Visitors to Auckland during Living Room could also take the opportunity to explore areas of the CBD such as the Aotea Quarter, which is currently in the midst of a redevelopment project and contains attractions like the Auckland Art Gallery.
