Power Woman Business Center and College of the Canyons Join Forces to Help Small Business Owners

    SANTA CLARITA, CA, March 05, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- With the re-emergence of the College of the Canyons' Advanced Technology Incubator as part of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), the incubator has been working with numerous area organizations and businesses to help find support for start-up and re-tooling entrepreneurs.

"We look forward to working with the Power Woman Business Center and its clients," said Steve Tannehill, Director of the SBDC hosted by College of the Canyons. "We share a similar mission and will collaborate in an effort to support start-up entrepreneurs in the Santa Clarita Valley."

Both entities will support each other's programs on behalf of small businesses so that entrepreneurs can take advantage of what is offered at both organizations.

Power Woman Business Center, which provides business entrepreneurs with low-cost office facilities and services to help small businesses grow in a professional setting, will complement the extensive job training and professional services offered by College of the Canyons.

"At Power Woman Business Center, entrepreneurs will have a place to put in practice all that they have learned through the wonderful programs at College of the Canyons," said Power Woman Business Center Founder and President, Patricia Gracia. "They will be able to apply all that knowledge towards building and growing their business in an affordable and professional office setting."

The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) hosted by College of the Canyons, as well as COC's Employee Training Institute and the Advanced Technology Incubator provide entrepreneurs with resources, knowledge and know-how required to start, retain or expand their businesses.

"As a complement to the services provided by the Power Woman Business Center, the SBDC has the ability to deliver free, one-on-one business consulting by its staff of fifteen business advisors who have expertise in a broad range of business-related topics," said Tannehill. "Additionally, as a component of the SBDC, the Advanced Technology Incubator is able to deliver additional pro bono mentoring and business services to technology-based entrepreneurs."

COC's team of business advisors provides business counseling in a wide variety of disciplines including: business plan development, accounting and bookkeeping, marketing and sales, and technology. They also provide assistance in accessing capital, state and federal government contracting, and much more.
