Leading Logistics Provider Announces New Ohio Contracts

    COLUMBUS, OH, April 06, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Columbus, Ohio based Spartan Logistics, announces its six-year contract to manage three warehouses and provide order fulfillment services for the State of Ohio in Toledo, Cleveland and Cincinnati warehouses. The Toledo location is an existing location for Spartan, but the company will open new locations by June 2010 in Cincinnati and Bedford Heights, Ohio. The total square footage Spartan will operate under this contract will be nearly 500,000 square feet.

"The three new Ohio contracts are a rewarding addition for Spartan," Steve Harmon, Spartan's president said. "We have been servicing the State's needs in Toledo for 18 years, and the State recognized the competence and high-quality work we do for them with this renewal and expansion. With this expansion, Spartan will employ more than 160 people in six cities and three states. The operation in Toledo, Ohio employs six people and occupies 80,000 square feet of warehouse space. Cincinnati's new contract is for a 140,000 square foot warehouse space. The Cincinnati contract will require the addition of 10 employees. Finally, Spartan will be leasing a 260,000 square foot warehouse in Bedford Heights, Ohio, which will hire 15 employees.

Spartan has extensive experience in contract storage and handling of food grade materials, glass, paper, and fragile / high value products. Because of these, and many other contracts, Spartan has the experienced personnel to handle goods and provide high-quality service.

"We have invested heavily over the last five years in custom-designed inventory management software that gives us the full range of warehouse management, billing, electronic data transmission, label generation, and online tracking abilities," Harmon said. "These new facilities now give us a footprint that covers the entire state of Ohio - Toledo, Cincinnati, Columbus, and Cleveland - and we are seeking additional customers in Cincinnati and Cleveland to take advantage of these facilities."
