BOSTON, MA, April 11, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Celebrate the start of summer in New England with free sailing trips on Boston's historic waterfront, courtesy of the Boston Sailing Center. The Center is offering skippered sails during a special weekend Open House celebration from 1:00 to 5:00pm on Saturday, May 1st and Sunday, May 2nd.
Sailors of all abilities are welcome to join the fun. Sails will be conducted by the Center's award-winning teaching staff, aboard 20 sailboats ranging in length from 24 to 40 feet. No reservations are accepted: individuals and groups will sail on a first-come, first-served basis.
Enrollment in select courses, memberships and programs will be offered at a 10% discount during the event. The Center's staff will also be on hand to answer questions about Learn to Sail programs, seasonal membership options, racing, corporate charters and more. A portion of all proceeds from lesson and membership registrations during the Open House will be donated to Save the Harbor/Save the Bay, a nonprofit agency working to protect and promote Boston Harbor as one of the region's greatest recreational resources.
The Boston Sailing Center has been teaching sailing on Boston Harbor for over 34 years. Based on a converted Louisiana Riverboat located in the North End, the Center maintains a fleet of 67 sailboats, an active member base of more than 400 local sailors, and a well-deserved reputation as the foremost destination for sailing in New England.
