Deputy Chief Brian E. Sturdivant's passion and professionalism enable him to thrive as a deputy fire chief for the Scottsdale Fire Department

SCOTTSDALE, AZ, April 13, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Brian E. Sturdivant, Deputy Fire Chief for the Scottsdale Fire Department, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in fire safety, fire operations, fire administration and fire training.

As a deputy fire chief for the Scottsdale Fire Department, Brian E. Sturdivant is responsible for overseeing the training, emergency medical services and member development divisions, coordinating and administering budgets, collaborating on certifications, community training and development and fire/EMS training development and remediation, and overseeing human resource functions including recruitment, retention and succession planning. Prior to joining the Scottsdale Fire Department, Mr. Sturdivant worked for the Fulton County GA and East Point GA Fire Department's and served in the United States Air Force for two years. Mr. Sturdivant is a meta-leader and seasoned professional with a comprehensive background in fire service and emergency medical services administration and operations.

He became involved in his profession when, after receiving public safety training in the United States Air Force, he decided to pursue public safety full-time. He attributes his success to his personal drive and passion for his profession.

Mr. Sturdivant received his Master of Arts Degree in Security Studies (Homeland Defense and Security) from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2009 and Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Safety Administration from Grand Canyon University in 2007. He also graduated from the Arizona State University Certified Public Manager Program in 2008. Chief Sturdivant was credentialed as a Chief Fire Officer Designee (CFOD) from the Commission on Public Safety Excellence in 2008. He is a member of the Arizona Fire Chiefs Association, the Arizona State Fire Training Committee, The National Forum for Black Public Administrators, The American Academy of Certified Public Managers, The National Fire Protection Association, The International Association of Fire Chiefs, The International Association of Black Professional Firefighters, The Black Chief Officer's Committee and the Institute of Fire Engineers.
