LOS ANGELES, CA, April 15, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Breakdown Services, the online communication network and casting system used by film studios, talent agents, casting directors and actors, is welcoming the heads of the premiere casting directories of the United Kingdom and Australia to a three-day conference of The International Alliance of Casting Directories (IACD). The companies will spend April 20, 21 and 22 discussing ways to strengthen their global casting network.
Spotlight Casting's first directory was published in 1937; it was the first casting service in the United Kingdom to bring information on actors together in one directory. Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh were just two of the legendary performers in its early editions, with Kate Winslet and Judi Dench being just a couple of the stars featured today. Spotlight Director Ben Seale, whose family has run the company since after World War II, will be in attendance, as will the immediate past Spotlight Director, Nigel Seale.
For 50 years Showcast has been been considered the premiere casting system of Australia and New Zealand. Danelle D'Costa, the Business Development Manager, will also be part of the conference. For ten years she has steered Showcast into a position to take on the changing world of online systems, leading Australia and its acting community to the digital world stage.
IACD was founded by the three long-established directories in the mid 1990's to develop a legitimate global casting service. This is the first conference the organization has based in the United States. A few of their main goals will be how to uphold professional standards, to promote an open exchange of ideas and to protect the interest of performers across the world.
