SHREVEPORT, LA, April 18, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Each year, many of the world's leading cosmetic surgery experts gather to share their knowledge at the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) annual meeting. This year, Dr. Simeon Wall, Jr. and Dr. Simeon Wall, Sr., two board-certified plastic surgeons in Louisiana at The Wall Center for Plastic Surgery (www.wallcenter.com) will present leading-edge liposuction techniques to their peers.
"Liposuction and body contouring are consistent topics of interest among plastic surgeons and patients alike," explains Dr. Wall, Jr., a Louisiana liposuction specialist. "I've developed an advanced liposuction technique called SAFELipo. Using SAFELipo on our patients, we simply achieve superior results with less chance of causing contour irregularities than any of the techniques we've used or seen in the past, including traditional, ultrasonic, or laser liposuction procedures. I'm looking forward to instructing my colleagues about the benefits of SAFELipo and how this procedure can improve patient outcomes."
Dr. Wall, Jr., will be the featured speaker for an interactive video presentation, Innovations in Liposuction: Fat Separation, Equalization, & Preservation for Primary and Secondary Contouring, where he will discuss SAFELipo techniques and principles, with examples of before and after cases.
Dr. Wall, Jr. will also be joined at the meeting by his father, Dr. Simeon Wall, Sr., a highly regarded body contouring specialist as well as a pioneer of liposuction in the United States. Together, they will be leading a course entitled Whittling the Waist & Extremities: Dramatic and Comprehensive Body Contouring Incorporating SAFELipo Techniques.
"We will be comparing fat-preserving techniques and technologies to those that destroy fat and burn the tissues," says Dr. Wall, Sr. "As we'll discuss during our presentation, we can obtain exceptional results with liposuction by combining fat preservation techniques with fat grafting. We'll also explain how other surgeons can incorporate SAFELipo into body contouring procedures such as abdominoplasty, body lift, thigh lift, arm lift, breast reduction, breast lift, and facelift."
The SAFELipo technique is a breakthrough in body contouring because it gently, yet effectively, sculpts targeted areas while preserving a smooth layer of fat that remains under the skin. This remaining fat provides an even, natural appearance and minimizes scar tissue formation. Additionally, there is no heat source to burn the tissues or the outer skin. Dr. Wall, Jr. originally developed this technique to correct the damage and uneven results some patients had experienced from prior liposuction procedures in Louisiana performed by other surgeons.
"When performing liposuction, we can enhance the results further by augmenting adjoining areas with fat grafting," says Dr. Wall, Jr. "For example, it's common to use liposuction when performing a tummy tuck to sculpt the waist. What is less common is to use that excess fat to enhance the appearance of the hips or buttocks. This can achieve a more comprehensive improvement."
At the conference, Dr. Wall, Jr. also will join a panel of highly regarded plastic surgeons to discuss an innovative 3D body contouring approach that takes into account a patient's unique anatomy, including bone structure and muscles. They will discuss new approaches to liposuction that can be used while enhancing the body, extremities, and chest.
"Through regular collaboration with our colleagues across the country, our society of dedicated plastic surgeons can continue to perfect surgical techniques by incorporating the experience and innovation of many great minds," concludes Dr. Wall, Sr. "Our patients benefit through more satisfying outcomes and improved safety."
