LONDON, ENGLAND, April 23, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- No Soul For Sale - A Festival of Independents is kicking off in London in May, with more than 60 artists being invited to work on projects to be shown in the Turbine Hall of the Tate Modern.
It is free to get in and people in London hotels will be treated to an eclectic mix of art, from installations and music to performance pieces.
In order to put on No Soul For Sale, the venue has worked with curators Massimiliano Gioni and Cecilia Alemani, as well as artist Maurizio Cattelan, who spearheaded the first edition of the event that was installed at the Dia Center for the Arts in New York last June.
Among the pieces that will be shown at the festival are a large column of cash register rolls created by the Kling & Bang gallery that will be used for projections and a giant picture of a slice of pizza by New York organisation K48 Kontinuum.
"The festival will bring together some of the most exciting and experimental new art from around the globe, displayed in an unconventional, do-it-yourself style," explained the organisers.
Running from May 14th to 16th, the event will also feature late-night special guest appearances on the Friday and Saturday, when the venue will be open until midnight BST.
It will open at 10:00 in the morning on all three days, with the show finishing on the Sunday at 18:00.
Another exhibition that visitors could check out during their visit is Van Doesburg & the International Avant-Garde, which is the first major UK exhibition devoted to the Dutchman.
