NEW YORK, NY, April 28, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Last week health officials sounded an alert after six women were hospitalized following black-market butt enhancements. New York plastic surgeon Dr. George Lefkovits, a recognized expert on butt enhancement, gives advice for patients looking to improve the size or shape of their buttocks.
A black-market butt-enhancement practitioner has sent six women to the hospital after he injected them with what was described as "a variety of unknown materials", but which may have included caulk, silicone, and petroleum jelly. In addition to the damage to their health, the women's buttocks now resemble "moonscapes" because they are lumpy and cratered, according to a hospital source. New York plastic surgeon Dr. George Lefkovits gives advice for women who want to enlarge their buttocks.
"You have one body," Dr. Lefkovits said, "take care of it. Buttock augmentation is an operation and is best performed by Board Certified plastic surgeons with experience in this procedure." He also adds the following cautions:
- Stay away from "practitioners" who treat you with "injections" in hotels or other non-clinical settings
- If it sounds too good to be true, it's probably exactly that
- Do not use silicone injections
- Do not travel to other countries to save money
Dr. Lefkovits, who has been performing buttock augmentation in New York since the 1980s, adds, "While I believe fat transplantation is the preferable procedure because it leads to a more natural result and is associated with fewer complications, the use of silastic implants is also an option."
In buttock augmentation via fat transplantation, fat is removed from one part of the body using liposuction. After it is purified, it is injected into the buttocks in small injections so that it becomes incorporated. Sometimes it may be necessary to perform the procedure a second time to get optimal results, but once achieved, the results are essentially permanent.
