SAN ANTONIO, TX, April 29, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In response to popular demand, Tin Star restaurant franchise is returning to San Antonio with a brand-new location at Callaghan and Horizon Hill, west of Interstate 10 near San Antonio Medical Center. Scheduled opening is May 2010.
"We feel like we're coming home," commented Mike Rangel, president of M.D. Rangel Enterprises, which owns the Tin Star brand. "We're especially thrilled to return to San Antonio with the support and expertise of franchisee Jay Battle--a veteran in the franchise-restaurant industry who shares our passion for everything that makes Tin Star unique."
A native Texan and resident of San Antonio, Battle joined the Tin Star family after nearly 30 years of senior management and franchise-operations experience with industry giants Whataburger, CiCi's Pizza, Tricon Global Restaurants (now Yum! Brands, owner of the KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell brands) and McDonald's. "I was looking for a new opportunity and Tin Star rose quickly to the top of my list," said Battle. "The menu is like none other. The flavors are distinctively Hill Country, our recipes can't be found anywhere else, and people love the offerings. In fact, when I talk to people about Tin Star, the word 'love' invariably comes up when they describe the food. Even our lighter fare has what's been called 'come-back flavor'."

Battle feels that the Medical Center location is ideal for Tin Star's initial return to San Antonio. "The food is fresh and healthy. And now, with Tin Star's new gluten-free menu, our menu has even more appeal for people who want good food that's also good for them."
Two additional San Antonio locations--also under Battle's management--are already on the drawing board. While their specific locations have not yet been determined, all will be chosen carefully. "We have a very controlled and focused growth plan for the franchise," explained Mike Rangel. "Tin Star will operate exclusively in Texas and Oklahoma so that we can better manage the distribution of our ingredients and ensure the freshness and quality we're known for. Within any given area, new franchise contracts and restaurant locations will be added selectively to provide optimal opportunity for all our franchisees."
