Widget Creator and Website Builder Wix Releases New Version Offering Enhanced Linking Abilities and Video Playlists

This week the company has released its latest version of its free website builder, designed to further improve the user experience with Wix.

Wix users can now create playlists of online videos - a remarkable innovation, which many of Wix's business website owners will find useful in today's online marketing environment. This feature will enable website visitors to browse through multiple online videos in the same window - and will reduce the loading time sites that host multiple videos. Musicians can now present their work in a user-friendly format, complete with menus labeling each song. Video files can be uploaded directly from YouTube, 5Min or Metacafe and are instantly embedded within the user's Wix site. Customization options include skin selection and color adjustment. By clicking on the video player, users can add videos, rearrange their order, delete videos and assign labels to each video. Users can also have the videos played in HD, or on auto play.

The second major change ushered in with this new version of Wix is an improved linking mechanism. Almost any item in Wix can be linked to an external URL, a different page within the Wix website or an e-mail address. Previously, links were assigned through the "Behavior" section of an item's property panel. Now, a user can link an item simply by clicking on it, and selecting the link icon that appears on the bottom of the website builder. This new graphic "Link" icon is easily recognizable, and makes the linking of buttons, clip art, shapes, text, etc. much simpler.

The changes included in this latest version are only the first in a series of product enhancements that Wix will be releasing over the next few weeks. Wix users will receive e-mails notifying them of new features, as they exit their testing stages and are officially integrated into Wix's free website platform.
