MUNICH, GERMANY, May 12, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Music fans booking accommodation in Munich next month may be planning to see US rockers The Hold Steady live in concert.
The Brooklyn-based four-piece, who released their fifth album Heaven in Whenever this week, are due to perform at the German city's 59:1 venue on June 17th.
Formed in 2004, the group have been steadily building a loyal fan base around the world since experiencing a minor breakthrough with 2008's Stay Positive, their fourth studio album.
The show in Munich forms part of a European tour that also includes appearances at the Isle of Wight and Glastonbury festivals, as well as concerts at venues in Spain, France and the Netherlands.
In a review of Heaven in Whenever, music website Pitchfork described singer and guitarist Craig Finn's songs as "street-level narratives with a large cast of characters all united by their dire circumstances".
The reviewer also noted the "moody, desperate urgency" of third track The Weekenders.
Several other music critics were quick to praise the album, with the Guardian noting that it showcases a "more reflective, thoughtful sound" than some of the band's previous releases.
Tickets for The Hold Steady's Munich concert, which is due to get underway at 21:30 local time, are priced at EUR18.20 (GBP15.60).
People who have seen the band before may be watching them for the first time without keyboardist Franz Nicolay, who announced his departure to pursue other projects earlier this year.
Other acts due to perform at 59:1, one of Munich's most highly-rated live music venues, over the coming months include Marina and the Diamonds, Strange Boys and The XX.
Commenting on the Hold Steady concert, Jessica Reading, head of marketing for LateRooms, said: "We strongly urge people thinking of going to see The Hold Steady and who need hotels Munchen to book early to avoid disappointment."
