SHANGHAI, CHINA, May 14, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Shanghai is an excellent location for Chinese and Foreign TV program exchange negotiations and agreements. The 16th STVF will run between the 7th and 11th of June 2010, with many participants striving to win the acclaimed prizes, which include the Magnolia Award, International Film and TV Market, New Media and Broadcasting Equipment Market and the Magnolia International TV Forum awards. The Magnolia Award seems to be the most popular for it relates to first-class international TV productions, and helps to foster cultural exchanges within the world community.
When the last STVF function was held in Shanghai, the organisers received over 529 programs from 34 countries and included TV films, documentaries and TV series. The event has developed into one of the best venues for displaying films, and the festival differs to others in that it offers a wider geographical coverage. For those reasons, the festival attracts over 200 exhibitors including, Warner Bros, International Television, Walt Disney and other film corporations, with more than 45% coming from overseas.
With the increased business opportunities being created by the STVF, Shanghai hotels have enjoyed a flow-on effect in their businesses with more people wanting a hotel in Shanghai, and Lek Boonlert, head of DirectRooms Marketing, urges visitors and exhibitors "to confirm their hotel accommodation early, because of the large number of overseas guests expected to arrive in Shanghai".
