BENTON HARBOR, MI, May 15, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ --Mary B. Meeks, Retired Principal from Benton Harbor Area Schools, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in education administration.
After dedicating over three decades of her professional career to the education field, Mary B. Meeks retired in June of 2009. For 16 years she served as a Principal for Benton Harbor Area Schools in Michigan, a charge that held her responsible for managing 386 students in the sixth, seventh and eighth grade. Ms. Meeks, who taught English and Journalism prior to becoming an educational administrator, notes that she chose a career in academics because of an interest in working with people.
Ms. Meeks holds a master of education in classroom teaching from Michigan State University and certification in administration and K-12 education from Western Michigan University. She is the founder of the Distinguished Sisters Literary Society and is an affiliate of Benton Harbor Administrators Association, the Michigan Association of School Administrators, the Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals, the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Despite her recent retirement, Ms. Meeks looks forward to becoming actively involved in consulting work to help strengthen educational administrators. Aside from her continued interests in education, she would like to attend culinary school.
