SPRINGFIELD, VA, May 18, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- From Secret Service agents, police departments from across the nation, and US Homeland Security, Dr. Todd P. Sullivan of NOVA Chiropractic & Wellness Center provided Active Release Techniques (ART) care to the runners at The National Police Challenge 50 Kilometer Relay Race in Laurel, MD.
Dr. Sullivan provided Active Release Techniques care for the runners at The National Police Challenge on May 14th, 2010. "With this race being so early into the season, we saw more muscle strains and overuse injuries as the runners are just getting into their season," says Dr. Sullivan.
Active Release Techniques (ART) is a state of the art patented soft tissue technique designed to fix the injuries that occur to the muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves. ART can also be used to increase the athlete's performance by loosening up tight muscles and preparing the athlete's body for the race, because a tight muscle is a weaker muscle. This technique is great at healing injuries that occur from repetitive strain such as training for a running race.
Dr. Sullivan has served the Springfield & Fairfax County community through NOVA Chiropractic & Wellness Center since 2006. Prior to that, he was one of two chiropractors selected to complete his residency training at the National Naval Medical in Bethesda, MD. Dr. Sullivan has served as the medical staff at the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, HI and has also provided Active Release Technique care at the ITU World championships in Washington DC, Virginia Triathlon Setup Events, Cherry Blossom Ten Miler, SunTrust Marathon, and Marine Corps Marathon.
