MUNICH, GERMANY, May 26, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- People booking hotels in Munich this summer may get a chance to experience the city's famous Tollwood Summer Festival.
Running from July 1st to 25th, this annual event is known for attracting famous musicians and international theatre companies, as well as showcasing less well-known performers from the local area.
Despite the calibre of many of the featured acts, a trip to the Tollwood festival is unlikely to break the bank, as roughly 75 per cent of the events offer free admission.
Many of these free attractions are held during the day, with concerts that require tickets taking place in the evening.
The festival is based in a series of tents and stages located in the southern area of Munich's Olympic Park, creating a relaxed and inviting open-air atmosphere for visitors.
This year's musical line-up features a number of major international stars, including singer-songwriter Norah Jones, British pop icons the Pet Shop Boys and folk supergroup Crosby, Stills and Nash.
Jones will perform on Friday July 2nd with tickets available for EUR47.50 (GBP41.40), while the Pet Shop Boys take to the stage on Saturday July 10th.
Tickets for that concert, which will represent the duo's only appearance in Germany this year, are priced at EUR40.
Other acts due to entertain the crowds at Tollwood this year include guitar hero Jeff Beck, former Supertramp singer Roger Hodgson and hip hop star Nas, who will be performing alongside his latest collaborator Damien Marley.
As well as the music, visitors can look forward to a varied programme of cabaret acts, comedy performances and theatre demonstrations.
Meanwhile, the festival's Market of Ideas is set to contain more than 200 stalls offering handicrafts and organic food from around the world.
Jessica Reading, head of marketing for LateRooms, commented: "Demand for the Tollwood Summer Festival is always significant and we recommend that anyone considering attending should book their hotels Munchen as early as possible."
