No good deed goes unnoticed... though, an obsolete website might. Operation USA was saddled with an outdated logo, a half-finished website and the start of a marketing plan. After meetings with Operation USA management, the Executionists team determined that the goal was to create a site that invokes human emotions by communicating disasters around the world with compelling photography, up-to-date field reports and project summaries, while maintaining user-friendly, site navigation. With breaking news and numerous project updates to showcase, Executionists tailored the architecture of the site to accept flexible content within a clearly defined layout.

Creating a rewarding website...
Operation USA (www.opusa.org) approached Executionists, Inc. (www.executionists.com) to rebrand their company starting with their logo. They knew they wanted to keep the airplane as a key graphic element, but it needed a contemporary treatment with a less militaristic tone.Through our iterative design process, we developed a flexible mark to brand a variety of online and offline collateral. Accompanying the logo, was a style guide that defined the logo usage, color palette and provided additional graphic elements that could be used as accents to support the brand.
"This living document [styleguide] grows as the brand grows, mapping and defining Operation USA's creative from logo, to color palette, to expanded graphic library," says Erin Tozour, Art Director, www.executionists.com.
The website (www.opusa.org) was built on an open-source platform (WordPress) with content manageable areas such as a promotional slideshow and customized, article-based Project and News pages. Social media marketing was also critical; Executionists strategically designed and incorporated strong social media components to support Operation USA's efforts.
"One of the challenges was to present what visitors may consider as 'dull' content in an exciting fashion. It was our job to make the website compelling to people seeking project specific information, background on Operation USA, and those who were motivated to donate to a credible charity. The success of the entire production would not have been possible without a unique approach to successfully integrating beautiful design with best practices in digital technology," explains Temy Gu, Senior Project Manager, www.executionists.com.
As the popularity of the new website grows so do the relief efforts of Operation USA. The positive user response and awards prove that strategic web design can have a substantial impact on an organization's success.
"Operation USA found a invaluable partner in Executionists. In every phase of our brand overhaul the team at Executionists brought practical solutions that were never short on creativity. As we developed our website, we were consistently impressed by how our vision was translated into something far beyond what we imagined. Easy-going professionalism and the high-end design have become very easy to get used to." -Alison Deknatel, Director of Communications, Operation USA.
