LONDON, ENGLAND, June 05, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Tennis fans in the UK will be itching with excitement as the most famous tournament in the UK - and possibly the world - is less than a month away, with London's Wimbledon competition running from June 21st until July 4th.
A large number of the top pros in world tennis such as Roger Federer and Andy Murray are likely to be lining up for the event, with the organisers recently confirming that there is a prize pot of GBP13.725 million on offer to the athletes.
Chairman of the All England Club and Wimbledon Championships Tim Phillips remarked: "It is important that we offer a level of prize money which is both appropriate to the prestige of the event and which gives the players full and fair reward."
Fans may have already booked their accommodation in London for the sporting contest, which will also have a very special guest in the shape of Queen Elizabeth on the opening day.
It is the first time she has attended the occasion since 1977 and her presence will no doubt add to the excitement.
Tickets for the show start from GBP25 and go up to GBP104 depending on which court fans want to enter, with visitors required to queue up on the day to get in if they have not already signed up to the online ballot.
For more information on this event visit the Wimbledon website or contact the venue on +44 (0)20 8944 1066.
