ZARAGOZA, SPAIN, June 09, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- People using accommodation in Zaragoza next month could take an excursion to one of Spain's most famous annual events.
Running from July 6th to 14th in Pamplona, the San Fermin festival is a major religious celebration that has become synonymous with one event in particular - the running of the bulls.
Although this dangerous tradition is observed in towns across Spain, Pamplona's version is by far the most famous and attracts visitors from all over the world each year.
The running of the bulls first came to the attention of English-speaking travellers following the publication of The Sun Also Rises, the classic 1926 novel by Ernest Hemingway.
Pamplona now boasts a street named after the American literary giant and the bull run has become a major tourist draw for the city, which is the capital of the Navarre region.
However, running down the narrow streets of the "encierro" as six bulls are let loose behind the crowd is a highly dangerous activity and certainly not for the faint hearted.
In an article for the Daily Telegraph last year, Charles Starmer-Smith recalled making the adrenalin-fuelled dash.
Admitting that his brief sprint became "a 300-yard glory run" once he had safely completed the course, he noted that late sports writer Ian Wooldridge described the running of the bulls as "one of the last sporting hurrahs in the world".
To make the most of the San Fermin festival - you should consider booking your hoteles en Zaragoza to avoid disappointment.
