ORLANDO, FL, June 27, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Orlando criminal defense attorney William D. Umansky has recently been appointed to serve a three-year term on the Ninth Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee "C" of the Florida Bar.
The Grievance Committee is made up of several of attorneys appointed by the Florida Board of Governors. The Committee meets monthly to review complaints filed by consumers regarding other lawyers to determine if there is probable cause for the Bar to prosecute the alleged ethical misconduct by the lawyer. Each committee member has the responsibility to investigate cases assigned to that member by reviewing the case, talking to the client and lawyer involved and reviewing documentation such as the case file, trust account ledgers, correspondence and other documents to determine if probable cause exists for the Bar to prosecute the complaint.
Mr. Umansky has been an active member of the Orlando legal community for more than 15 years, handling criminal cases both as a former prosecutor and currently as a defense attorney. Mr. Umansky also represents plaintiffs in matters involving severe personal injury and wrongful death. He is honored to serve on the Ninth Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee "C."
"I am very excited to have the opportunity to join this committee," said Mr. Umansky. "Actively participating in maintaining the high standards of the Orlando legal community is very important to me, and I feel that I have a great deal to contribute to this group."
Mr. Umansky has previously served as Co-Chair of the Orange County Bar Criminal Law Committee for several years. He is confident that this experience will be invaluable as he embarks on his new appointment.
