BARCELONA, SPAIN, July 06, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Gothic Art Rooms at Barcelona's Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC) have been reopened to visitors.
After a closure of nearly six months, the art space is putting the work in question back on display, after having remodelled the area.
People will now be able to visit - or indeed revisit - MNAC's Gothic Art Rooms during their stay at accommodation in Barcelona, which includes the Gothic Art and Renaissance Art, the Cambo Bequest and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Collections.
According to the venue, the closure was necessary to create the "best possible conditions" for individuals to enjoy the historical and aesthetic value of the art.
"The presentation by subject matter of the old museography has been eliminated and the work is now displayed in a historical and artistic sequence and also according to its place of origin," it added.
One of the most prominent changes that people may notice is that the Virgin from Sixena and Virgin of the Councillors are now attached to metal structures that raise them off the ground and away from the wall.
The MNAC is closed every Monday, but opens every other day at 10:00 (local time), shutting at 19:00 from Tuesday to Saturday and 14:30 on Sundays and public holidays.
Tickets cost EUR8.50 (GBP6.92) and will allow visitors to see the whole of the permanent collection.
For more information on this event visit the MNAC website or contact the venue on (00 34) 93 622 03 76.
