PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC, July 20, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Every year, musicians gather in Prague to celebrate the life and work of the great Bohemian composer Antonin Dvorak.
The Czech capital's Rudolfinum concert hall hosts a series of performances featuring his most famous compositions, alongside music by other masters such as Mozart, Schubert and Strauss.
This year's Dvorak Prague Festival runs from August 20th to September 4th, meaning Prague hotels should once again be full of classical music enthusiasts.
For the opening concert, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra will present a programme of works by Wagner, Beethoven and Dvorak, conducted by Latvia's Andris Nelsons.
Other ensembles due to appear during the course of the festival include the Royal Flemish Philharmonic and the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra.
The closing event on September 4th will see the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra perform two Dvorak compositions alongside a Chopin concerto and Ravel's Bolero.
Tickets for this concert are available online for EUR51 (GBP42.60), while the opening night's performance is priced at EUR67.
Situated in Jan Palach Square on the banks of the River Vltava, the Rudolfinum is a spectacular example of neo-Renaissance architecture and one of Prague's most important cultural buildings.
The venue's main concert hall is named after Dvorak, who is also honoured with a statue in front of the structure.
