COTSWOLDS, ENGLAND, July 20, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- People visiting the Cotswolds can celebrate the world of trees and all their uses by attending a forthcoming event at the Westonbirt Arboretum.
The Festival of the Tree is set to run at the Gloucestershire centre from August 23rd to 30th, offering a range of educational tree-based activities aimed at families.
As part of the Sculptree event, 11 sculptors from around the UK have been invited to transform large pieces of Westonbirt wood into an artistic creation.
The tree sculptures, which will be auctioned off to raise money for Tree Aid when finished, are this year set to include a gorilla, a dragon and a wizard.
Another important part of the festival is Exhibitree - a four-day display of wood-based craftsmanship featuring contributors from all over the country.
This event is set to run from August 27th to 30th and should inspire Cotswold hotel bookings among those looking for unique wooden items of furniture, jewellery or ornaments.
Entry to the Festival of the Tree is priced at GBP8 for adults between August 23rd and 26th, with the price rising to GBP10 for the final four days of the event. Children can enter for free at all times.
Situated near Tetbury, the Westonbirt Arboretum is managed by the Forestry Commission and contains more than 15,500 individual tree specimens.
