The band, fronted by the enigmatic Mark Oliver Everitt - better known as E - are coming to the city's Palace Theatre on August 15th 2010 as part of their tour of the country, during which they will also stop at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney and The Tivoli in Brisbane.

Promoters have recommended that people who step out from their Melbourne hotels to catch the gig should expect the unexpected, as Eels have constantly evolved their sound and stage show since they formed back in the early 1990s.

"One year it's vocoders and synthesizers and the next it's gritty garage rock," they pointed out.

Fans of the band who are lucky enough to get tickets for the performance are likely to be rewarded with some of the tracks from Eels' latest album End Times, which was released earlier on this year.

Classics such as Susan's House, Your Lucky Day in Hell and Novocaine for the Soul - arguably their most famous song - could also get an airing.

The show is strictly for over-18s and tickets are available now for A$65.10, while the doors will open at 19:30 local time.
