    PARIS, FRANCE, July 22, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Travellers heading down to Paris' Le Louvre art space can see a new exhibition of William Kentridge's work, which is on show until August 30th.

Guests of Paris hotels who have a particular curiosity regarding ancient Egypt may find the exhibit fascinating, since this is the theme of the artist's creations on display.

Kentridge is a South African - born in Johannesburg - whose first interest in ancient Egyptian imagery was shown during the staging of his comic opera The Magic Flute.

This exhibition has been organised to coincide with the retrospective of his work taking place at Paris' Jeu de Paume art space on place de la Concorde.

Although many fans may only be aware of Kentridge's pastel and charcoal drawings or animated films, they should know that he also likes to work with collage, sculpture and engravings.

"The invitation extended by the Louvre provides an opportunity for the artist to re-explore the world of ancient Egypt, but also to delve into the Napoleonic campaigns of the late 18th century," remarked the organisers.

Entrance to the display is included in the price of a normal ticket for Le Louvre, which costs EUR9 (GBP7.50).

The museum is open from 09:00 to 18:00 local time on Mondays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, as well as from 09:00 to 22:00 on Wednesdays and Fridays.
