SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, July 31, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Australia: The Show - a performance which aims to really explore what it means to be Australian - is coming to Sydney's Glen Street Theatre next month.
The production, which is the work of the team behind a critically acclaimed interpretation of Patrick Barlow's The Messiah, opens at the venue on August 24th 2010, with the run extending until September 4th.
Despite the size of the topic which the show sets out to tackle, tourists who are planning to step out from their hotels in Sydney to check out one of the performances should not be expecting anything too high-brow.
It features fictional theatre creator Leslie Barrymore Lockett and his sidekick Owen Blunt, as they explore the culture and traditions of the country via a technique which the writers describe as a "space jump".
As such, guests at cheap hotels in Sydney will be able to take part in their own Australian immigration test and enjoy some of the hilarious set pieces.
Tickets for the shows are still available and are priced at A$43 for adults, A$39 for concessions and A$31 for children.
Most of the performances take place at 20:00 local time, although a number of earlier matinee shows will begin at earlier times.
For more information on this event, visit the Glen Street Theatre website or contact the venue on (+61) 2 9975 1455.
