LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND, August 03, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Mathew Street Festival is set to bring a host of free musical entertainment to central Liverpool next month.
Taking place over the August bank holiday weekend, the two-day event is one of the city's most popular annual festivals and attracts visitors from around the world.
People staying in Liverpool hotels can look forward to six outdoor stages hosting a variety of live bands, including the obligatory Beatles tribute acts.
Now in its 18th year, the festival will unveil a special floating stage for the 2010 edition.
According to the Liverpool Echo, this waterside attraction is expected to be set up in Salthouse Dock on Monday August 30th, the second day of the event.
More than 300,000 people are expected to turn up and enjoy the 80 hours of live music in the city, which is hugely proud of its cultural heritage.
As well as the tribute acts, original local bands such as the Wicked Whispers, the Rialto Burns, Bo-Weevils and Picture Book are due to perform this year.
Mathew Street is famous among Beatles fans as the location of the Cavern Club, a venue that played a key role in the legendary band's early career.
Now one of the city's most popular nightlife areas, the street offers a range of bars and clubs.
