LONDON, ENGLAND, August 12, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Keen historians may wish to visit London's Royal Air Force (RAF) Museum later this summer, as the Battle of Britain Weekend looks set to incorporate a packed programme of events into just two days.
Hotel London guests may have the chance to see a 'memorial flypast' by authentic Spitfire and Hurricane aircraft, although this will depend on the unpredictable British weather at the time.
Running on September 11th and 12th, the occasion will also see performances by the Barnet Band and the RAF President's Band in the Bomber Hall.
For the more intellectually curious, there will be a range of talks regarding what happened during the Battle of Britain, with one of the highlights being a debate on the Sunday (September 12th).
The event will see celebrated historians Roger Moorhouse and Patrick Bishop discuss the Battle from the German perspective, as well as through British eyes.
Any potential visitors worried about how much the weekend costs to attend will no doubt be delighted to hear that it is all free.
The venue has stressed that people should check the website before attending, as there are plenty more activities being finalised and the timing of events still to be confirmed.
In addition to all this, there will also be a costume competition on the Sunday, as well as screenings of related films.
The Battle of Britain Weekend is being held to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the historical occasion.
For more information on this event visit the RAF Museum website or contact the venue on 020 8205 2266.
