NEW YORK, NY, August 20, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- With the free online software developed by Wix, you can create your very own website for your business, organization or personal interests and hobbies, without paying a professional web designer or learning computer mark-up languages like HTML or CSS. And even for a professional web designer, the drag & drop interface makes it a cinch to quickly churn out high quality websites for clients without building everything organically from the bottom up. All it takes to publish a free website is an Internet connection, an e-mail address and a few minutes.
This week, Wix.com released a much-anticipated new version of its platform, with a slew of new and improved features. These include a new Help Center located right inside the editor, enabling users to get targeted assistance with building a website in the most convenient way possible. Users can learn how to make a website by watching a quick video tutorial, and immediately apply their knowledge, gaining instant results. A new message box icon was planted on the top menu bar of the Wix editor, alerting users to Wix-related news and announcements, so they are fully informed of the latest features. And, it is easier to adjust site Settings, such as metadata, site size, background color and listing in search engines.
In addition to these changes, there are two new customization features that users are already making use of, updating old sites to include them. A new "reflection" effect can be assigned to items like clip art, pictures, buttons and shapes. This sleek effect adds a layer of depth to a user's Flash website, and can be found by clicking on an item and selecting the Effects tool.
Users are also now able to add customized Favicons, which are like personal website icons that sit in the tab of one's site when viewed in a browser. For example, Wix.com's Favicon is a 16 x 16 pixel image of the Wix figure against a blue background. This element contributes to the branding of a user's site, and is a premium feature. To add a Favicon to a website a user must upgrade to a Wix premium package.
Avishai Abrahami, the founder and CEO of Wix.com, comments, "With this latest version, we're making it easier for users to control the way they and their businesses look and function online. We're already impressed with how our current users have taken advantage of the new features in the new version - and those new to Wix stand to benefit as well from the enhanced user-friendliness and customization options."
