/24-7PressRelease/ - KENT, UK, July 30, 2006 - M-A-D (Mountainbike Aerial Display Team)celebrate their 10th birthday party in September. The dynamic bicycle stunt team, based in Kent, have been wowing the crowds with their cycle acrobatics all over the world - taking their M-A-D brand to Tunisia for Coca Cola, to Saudi Arabia for Pepsi, Land Rover and ordinance Survey in the UK.
Set up in 1996 by Giles Wolfe, a Kent man with an obsession for two wheels, the M-A-D brand has grown in stature from a one man team to three stunt teams comprising 10 Riders. Giles says : 'MAD organise and perform Stunt demo's all over the UK and Europe, we bring something different to an event. My riders display a unique brand of showmanship'.
Big business and the media have been attracted by Giles' ideas and performance ethics as appearances on Blue Peter, Sky Sports, Channel 5 and Eurosport have led to M-A-D becoming a recognizable youth brand. Giles says; 'I'm the proud owner of three (count them!) Blue Peter badges - all obtained over the age of 16! But on a serious note, our brand M-A-D shows kids that it's good to get outside and have fun on their bikes. We go into schools and show our skills and teach safety too working in association with B-Hit; 'The Bicycle Helmet Initiative Trust '. We've also coached in Kent at various facilities and locations.'
Giles Wolfe, Managing Director of the team, is an Ex professional Racer and Junior School Champion. Giles first started working in the bike industry in 1992 and saw the potential of developing a show out of showing off on your bike. Giles says; '. After seeing some trials riders at an exhibition I realised that if I brought a bit of discipline and a format to the show, I would have something that could translate well in the business world.' Seizing the opening in the market Giles set about building his team and his philosophy; 'it's business with a fun element.'
Giles and the team are hoping to expand further as Giles looks for a big business sponsor to invest in the current team. Giles says; 'the PR possibilities are endless. In the autumn we're launching our own bikes with 2x2 (Land Rover) but we'd really like to establish a team that can travel around specifically to designated events to showcase our brand and that of a suitable Kent sponsor'.
With television and magazine interest Giles and his team feel they have something unique to offer Kent business: ' we've worked with the big boys in the past and had great relationships with big sponsors including Red Bull and Adidas. And we're now looking for a local sponsor who either has a national brand or wants to develop one further.'
Giles and his team intend to celebrate their tenth birthday party in style when they return from filming in Australia this September.
