COTSWOLDS, ENGLAND, August 24, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- People making Cotswold hotel bookings next month may like to plan a trip to Bath for the Jane Austen Festival.
Perfect for fans of Pride and Prejudice and Mansfield Park, the tenth edition of this annual event is due to take place from September 17th to 25th.
Austen-themed activities take place throughout Bath under the guidance of festival director Jackie Herring.
In tribute to the much-loved novelist and her famous fictional world, the first Saturday of the festival sees people dress up in 18th century clothes and parade through the streets of the city.
Festival-goers managed to break the world record for the largest single gathering of people in Regency costume in 2009 and this year could see even more attendees take part.
The Grand Regency Promenade will take place at 11:00 BST on September 18th and all participants are asked to wear the appropriate attire.
Later that day, the Jane Austen walking tour will take visitors to some of the Bath locations mentioned in her novels Northanger Abbey and Persuasion. Tickets for this event are priced at GBP6 per adult.
For those who would like to learn the basics of Regency-style dancing - a crucial part of the social events so memorably described in Austen's books - a dance workshop has been scheduled for September 19th, priced at GBP9.50.
For more information on this event, visit the Jane Austen Centre website or contact the organisers on 01225 443 000.
