BERLIN, GERMANY, August 25, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- British synth pop act Goldfrapp are set to bring music fans flocking to Berlin hotels later this year.
The chart-topping duo, comprised of singer Alison Goldfrapp and musician Will Gregory, will play the German capital's Astra Kulturhaus venue on Saturday October 2nd.
Having released their fifth studio album Head First earlier this year, Goldfrapp are set to embark on an extensive European leg of their world tour following appearances at the V Festival in the UK this month.
For fans in Berlin, the Astra Kulturhaus date will represent a chance to hear new songs such as recent singles Rocket and Alive, as well as classic tracks like Train and Strict Machine.
Head First received acclaim from several music critics, with the BBC's Ian Wade describing it as "amazing stuff".
"You should welcome Head First like the first sun of spring," he instructed fans of the duo.
Goldfrapp are known for creating a memorable live experience, with Alison often appearing on stage in outlandish costumes to complement her distinctive vocal performances.
Reviewing a gig at London's Union Chapel in 2008, the Guardian noted the "fragile, fairytale atmosphere" created by the band on stage.
"[Alison] Goldfrapp barely moves and does not speak between songs, yet her voice creates a glistening spell and nobody wants it to end," the newspaper added.
The Berlin show is due to start at 20:00 local time and standing tickets are priced at EUR29.70 (GBP24.30)
For fans of the group who cannot make it to Berlin, Goldfrapp are also playing gigs in Hamburg on September 30th and Munich on October 4th, before heading on to Switzerland, Italy and Slovenia.
