SURREY, ENGLAND, September 02, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- If the thought of winter is filling you with dread, don't despair - Headwater still has some availability on selected walking holidays and cycling holidays departing in September!
In France, the Lot, Dordogne and Alsace all have dates available throughout the month, with Provence opening up for people able to travel after 16th. In general, you'll find the hotels much quieter than in high summer, yet the days should be long and sunny, with the option to dine al fresco stretching out the further south you go.
Walking and cycling in Italy is at its best in the temperate climes of early and late summer. Routes also seem a lot easier too! If you fancy the north of Italy, then we'd recommend Venetia - with the added bonus that Venice becomes much more accessible after the hordes of summer tourists have gone home! Further south, we have holidays still to book in Umbria with some limited places also available in Puglia.
The Spanish region of Catalunya can be reached very easily from the UK - there's a huge choice of regional flights into both Barcelona and Gerona, and prices fall dramatically once children are back at school. Our walking in Catalunya and cycling in Catalunya both run until late October making them perfect for a quick out-of-season break.
Central Europe remains an attractive choice for walkers looking for slightly cooler temperatures (walking in shirt sleeves should still be expected) with average monthly rainfalls in most places oddly lower than in August! We have dates available in Austria, Switzerland, Croatia and Slovenia, and particularly recommend Walking in Davos or Walking in the Goms Valley.
