BARCELONA, SPAIN, September 02, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Barcelona's Macba museum is hosting Latifa Echakhch's La Ronda exhibition this year, which will no doubt aim to challenge ambiguous notions through art.
This is a feature of the artist's work, which often looks at "slippages of meanings", according to the venue.
La Ronda will be available to view until February 6th 2011 and the organisers lauded the quality of Echakhch's creations, which range from installations utilising video projections to sculptures and photographs.
"Similarly crucial are the physical displacements of certain marks of identity into contexts or supports where they acquire one or more new meanings or reveal unexpected characteristics that clash with their original meaning," remarked a Macba representative.
Among the recent pieces that have made Echakhch a name to watch out for on the international art circuit is French Touch (self-portrait), which shows her arm held up vertically in a photograph with Gallic-style nail polish.
It alludes to issues of national identity, since she was born in Morocco but lives and works in Paris.
There are plenty of other fantastic displays to see at the Macba, such as Parallel by Benet Rossell, making it a great day out for cheap hotels Barcelona guests.
Tickets cost EUR7.50 (GBP6.15) to see the whole museum and EUR6 for just a temporary exhibition like La Ronda.
Opening hours at the art space are from 11:00 to 19:30 local time on weekdays, 10:00 to 20:00 on Saturdays and 10:00 to 15:00 on Sundays and public holidays. It is closed on Tuesdays.
