New Deadline for Contractors to Get Their Lead RRP Certification Nears. The EPA Beginnings Taking Enforcement Actions on October 1, 2010

    VACAVILLE, CA, September 14, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- CALINC Training, the primary provider of lead-based RRP certification in Central and Northern California reminds all contractors of the need to get certified by October 1, 2010 to avoid penalties when working on projects for pre-1978 dwellings that disturb lead based paint.

CALINC Training is the largest provider of RRP certification in Northern California, having certified over 2,600 RRP students so far in 2010. They regularly host courses to train and certify contractors in accordance with the EPA's Renovation, Repair and Painting Final Rule (40 CRF 745). Under this rule, contractors and property managers performing RRP projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities, and schools built before 1978 are required to take the eight-hour certification course, and must follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination in all projects. The course covers the health effects, regulations, lead safe work practices, containment, cleaning & record keeping requirements. This course were developed by the U.S. EPA in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), to train contractors and dust sampling technicians on how to comply with the EPA's RRP rule and HUD's Lead Safe Housing rule.
