NORFOLK, ENGLAND, September 14, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A forthcoming event at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts (SCVA) may appeal to film lovers using Norfolk hotels.
On October 17th, the Norwich museum's Sunday Films screening will see local expert Chris Rodden present a collection of movies that explore Mexican culture and surrealism.
Getting underway at 14:00 BST, The event is free to attend and will include feature films, documentaries and other movie clips.
According to the SCVA, the Sunday Films session will "explore the ways surrealist film-makers were influenced by Mexico's vibrant culture", partly by looking at the work of artists such as Frida Kahlo and Luis Bunuel.
It will also include a discussion of how Mexico and its people have been represented by Hollywood productions.
Located on the University of East Anglia campus, the SCVA opened in 1978 and attracts about 40,000 people a year to its various galleries and events.
The museum was the first major public building designed by famed British architect Norman Foster.
Forthcoming exhibitions at the SCVA include Surreal Friends, which is set to run from September 28th to December 12th. This show will examine the lives and work of three leading female surrealists: Leonora Carrington, Remedios Varo and Kati Horna.
