LateRooms.com - See Madrid Exhibition of Jessica Stockholder

    MADRID, SPAIN, September 19, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A Jessica Stockholder sculpture entitled Peer Out to See has been unveiled in Madrid, with the work on show blending the literal and the metaphorical seamlessly.

On display until February 2011 at the Palacio de Cristal in Parque del Buen Retiro, this sculpture is sure to intrigue guests at Madrid hotels with its playful nature.

The organisers note that there are all sorts of puns to be found in Stockholder's work, with her creations being deeply serious and good aesthetic fun at the same time.

"As things that once seemed familiar and ordinary take on new life - mirroring, echoing and dialoguing with each other in their unlikely new roles - they become imposing, assertive, cheeky, sly, teasing, alluring, whimsical and much more," they added.

Her method is one that involves scrutinising the world rather than glancing as we pass by.

It is with this process in mind that Stockholder has built Peer Out to See, with visitors likely to enjoy the colourful item during their trip to the Palacio de Cristal.

The opening times for this exhibition will change at the end of September. For the rest of the month the building will be open from 11:00 until 21:00 local time every day except Tuesday, when it is closed.

From October 1st, the venue opens from 10:00 to 18:00 from Monday to Saturday and 10:00 to 16:00 on Sundays. It will still be closed on Tuesdays.
