HAUPPAUGE, NY, September 21, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Emque, a Long Island-based custom software developer of solutions for high-end commercial contractors, has introduced a paperless solution for use in the construction field. A suite of three programs that they plan to call The Foreman runs on an iPad, and enables a construction foreman out in the field to make material requests, enter payroll hours per worker, and create field work orders. Field work orders make use of voice activation and signature capture, providing immediate uploading to the office server for pricing and billing. The Foreman is a suite of solutions that can be added to Emque's existing software solutions for use in the construction field.
"This is the first iPad-based application that can be brought into the construction field and allow foremen to conduct these vital tasks with the touch of a stylus or the sound of their voice," says Mike Quagliarello, founder and president of Emque. "Until now, paperwork completed in the field - which can amount to millions of dollars a year for some contractors - has been an extremely difficult area of the construction business to control."
With the introduction of the iPad, the first viable tablet, Emque began to build this program which can eliminate the need for paper and significantly expedite the invoicing of work being performed. Future applications will have the capability to run on any iPad-competitive tablet product as well as on iPhones and Android phones. Emque is working on developing applications that can run on the small footprints available on iPhones and Android phones.
"The Foreman applications are just the beginning of what we are working on," Quagliarello continued. "In addition to The Foreman, Emque is in the process of developing additional add-on solutions to their software that will address the specific needs of Project Managers, Estimators, and Owners, enabling them to easily manage their jobs and business functions remotely. The company is also developing additional solutions for The Foreman."
The current applications, developed specifically for the construction foreman in the field, work as follows:
- Material Request - Controlled by the office purchasing manager, material requests made by the Foreman automatically populate the Job Order system.
- Remote Payroll - This application is a redesigned version of Emque's proven Remote Payroll Entry technology that fits the footprint of the iPad.
- Field Work Order Creation - Considered "the killer app" of The Foreman, this development can put an end to paper tickets. A field foreman can now create a field work order right on his iPad via voice to text. Voice activation of the work description will generate a PDF of the ticket and allow the customer to sign it directly on the iPad. The signed ticket is saved automatically to the office server and automatically priced in T&M billing.
"Our team and our customers are very excited about this unique and revolutionary solution," Quagliarello added. "And our lab is currently developing additional solutions that will enhance the efficiency of our already 'best practices' solutions we've created for our customers. Emque is noted for its custom solutions; our products aren't off the shelf."
The iPad solutions are an adjunct to software Emque has already developed for its customers which include fully integrated and cost effective accounting, job costing, payroll, estimating, purchasing, service order and project management systems. Emque uses a proven approach of solid accounting procedures with "in the trenches" business experience that results in systems and procedures that are easy to understand, well documented, and very easy to use and learn.
