LONDON, ENGLAND, October 05, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Journey Through the Afterlife at London's British Museum is sure to get people's minds whirring about the history of the world and the ancient Book of the Dead in particular.
Guests at London hotels can visit this fascinating display between November 4th 2010 and March 6th 2011.
What awaits them when they pass through the doors into the exhibition is an in-depth study into the Book of the Dead - the ancient Egyptian text filled with spells to "equip" people for the afterlife.
The organisers explained that this compilation of material was used between 1600 BC and 100 AD as a guide to the dangers people face when they die and how they can ensure they secure themselves eternal life.
Among the artefacts that form part of the collection is the Greenfield Papyrus - which is 37 metres long - and paintings, jewellery and figurines relating to the topic of death in ancient Egypt.
According to a spokesperson for the venue: "The British Museum has one of the most comprehensive collections of Book of the Dead manuscripts on papyrus in the world and this exhibition will be the first opportunity to see so many examples displayed together."
It is free to enter the heritage space and see the permanent collection, but people must pay to see this display.
Visitors are welcome to attend the show between 10:00 and 17:30 GMT from Saturday to Wednesday, while Thursdays and Fridays have the extended opening hours of 10:00 to 20:30.
Admission for this stunning exhibition costs GBP12.
