Lazkano, who is currently a teacher at the Fine Arts Faculty in Bilbao, where he himself trained, plays with notions of representation and reality in Architecture Into Nature.

Previously he has had exhibitions displayed in the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao among other prestigious institutions.

In some of his creations the natural world takes on a powerful role, according to the organisers.

His distinctive and fascinating style has been applied to everything from imaginary landscapes to a set of paintings of the Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao, which were created specifically for this showcase.

"Technically, his painstaking approach means his painting takes time to develop, although it does so with a striking virtuosity, tenacious in its pursuit of an almost photographic representation of reality," a representative from the venue remarked.

The exhibition will be available to view until January 16th 2011, with the entrance fee costing EUR6 (GBP5.20) and the museum opening from Tuesday to Sunday between 10:00 and 20:00 local time.
