Ron Della Chiesa Hosts Barry Price Center 20th Annual Gala Starring Bobby Rydell, Friday, November 5

    BROOKLINE, MA, October 21, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Barry L. Price Rehabilitation Center has just announced that Ron Della Chiesa, also known as the voice of the Boston Symphony Orchestra will host Greater Boston's 20th Annual Barry Price Center Fundraiser and Concert featuring the 1950s Phily-born teen idol and pop singer Bobby Rydell on Friday, November 5 at the Holiday Inn Brookline. Joe Constiglione, known as the voice of the Boston Red Sox will also be on hand. The Holiday Inn is located at 1200 Beacon Street, Brookline, Massachusetts. The Holiday Inn is wheelchair accessible.

Bobby Rydell (born Robert Louis Ridarelli, April 26, 1942, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is an American teen idol from the early 1960s era of rock and roll. According to Allmusic music journalist, Kim Summers, Rydell, whose interest in show business began at the age of four, "is one of the most sought-after nightclub and concert acts in the U.S. His performance in Bye Bye Birdie and his recordings "Wild One" and "Volare" made him a famous performer in the 1960s. Rydell used his talents as an impersonator and drummer mostly in pursuing a musical rather than an acting career."

SILENT AUCTION:

In addition to the fabulous show by Bobby Rydell there will be an un paralleled silent auction! Noted author Patricia Cornwell has graciously donated a complete first edition set of her Scarpetta Series. Each book has been signed in the original year of publication and is in its original dust cover. They are in mint condition. In addition to the 17 Scarpetta novels, she has also included another book, Food to Die For: Secrets from Kay Scarpetta's Kitchen (2002). Ms. Cornwell had also donated an extremely rare 18k Gold Scarpetta Pin to complete the collection.

Those who love the Boston Celtics can bid on tw Celtics tickets behind the basket plus the opportunity to stay after the game to have a shoot-around with either the Celtics coach or a player. Baseball fans can big on two tickets behind home plate to a 2011 Boston Red Sox game plus the opportunity to spend one inning in the Press Box with Joe Costiglione. Funds raised will benefit the Barry L. Price Rehabilitation Center, Inc., a non-profit organization with facilities located in Newton, Brookline, and Dedham, Massachusetts. The Price Center provides support services to adults and teens with developmental disabilities. At the Center, individuals are provided with opportunities in community-based work as well as treatment and living environments aimed to enhance self confidence and to maximize independence.

The rhythm & blues group The G Clefs will provide upbeat entertainment during the buffet. Among the innovators of rock n roll and the pure doo-wop and jazz of the 1950s, the original G-Clefs will return by popular demand to entertain The Price Centers generous supporters and friends as the encore performance of the evening. The group is a highly flamboyant, well-choreographed pop/soul vocal ensemble which has the distinction of having the first Boston area rock & roll record to chart nationally--their 1956 hit "Ka Ding Dong." Consisting of four brothers, Teddy Scott (b. February 29, 1936), Chris Scott (b. February 2, 1937), guitarist Tim "Payme" Scott (b. August 23, 1938), and Ilanga Scott (b. July 22, 1940), along with their friend and neighbor Ray Gibson (b. September 24, 1937), the band formed in Roxbury, thirty years before New Edition would bring Maurice Starr and Michael Jonzun's music to the world, The G-Clefs were the original pioneers from New England's soon-to-be-important music scene.
