The London-based band are due to play the O2 Academy Bournemouth on Saturday November 13th as they tour the country in support of second album Surfing the Void.

Released in August this year, the record was described by NME as "one of the best pop albums of the year" and looks set to win Klaxons even more devoted fans.

The group's debut album, Myths of the Near Future, beat off competition from Amy Winehouse, Jamie T and Arctic Monkeys to win the Mercury Prize in 2007.

Produced by James Ford of Simian Mobile Disco, the record featured the hit singles Golden Skans, Gravity's Rainbow and It's Not Over Yet.

Along with acts such as New Young Pony Club and Hadouken!, Klaxons were associated with an emerging genre labelled "nu-rave" when they first rose to prominence.

Although that scene has now faded from the pages of the music press, the band remain one of the most innovative indie rock acts in the UK.

Tickets for the Bournemouth gig, which will begin at 19:00 GMT, are priced at GBP16 plus booking fee.
