COTSWOLDS, ENGLAND, October 21, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cotswold hotel guests may decide to visit Cheltenham for one of the highlights of the British racing calendar next month.
The Gloucestershire town's famous racecourse is set to host The Open from November 12th to 14th, offering three days of high-quality racing and plenty of other entertainment.
As the biggest race meeting held during the first half of the jump season, The Open is a major event for lovers of the sport and people flock to Cheltenham from around the UK.
The Prestbury Park course is famed for its atmosphere on race days, as the track is located in a natural amphitheatre with the rolling hills of the Cotswolds in the background
Many people heading to The Open this year will be most looking forward to the Paddy Power Gold Cup, which is due to celebrate its 50th anniversary on Saturday November 13th.
Some of racing's top jockeys and most successful trainers have won this race over the years, including the likes of Jonjo O'Neill, Martin Pipe and Venetia Williams.
Large crowds are expected for the Grade 3 handicap chase, although other races will also attract their fair share of spectators, including the Greatwood Hurdle on the last day of the meeting.
Tickets for The Open start from GBP9 and vary in price according to the enclosure.
