    ROME, ITALY, October 22, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Four artists will create site-specific works to be unveiled at the MAXXI in Rome later this year to decide the winner of the Premio Italia Arte Contemporanea 2010.

The contestants have been selected by the top brass of some of the most respected art institutions in Italy, so the pieces on display are sure to be incredible.

Once the artists have installed their creations in the MAXXI, they will be judged by a panel of experts, which includes Iwona Blazwick from Whitechapel Art Gallery in London and the director of Kunsthalle in Basel Adam Szymczyk.

Guests at 5 star hotels in Rome who choose to attend this exhibition will be treated to some of the finest modern art currently being created in Italy.

The contestants competing to win a permanent place in the MAXXI collection and the chance to be the object of a monographic catalogue are Gianluca and Massimiliano De Serio, Piero Golia, Rosa Barba and Rossella Biscotti.

"Through their work, the four [artistic teams] ... explore the idioms of film, performance and installation art in an interdisciplinary linguistic experimentation that places them within the avant-garde of contemporary artistic research," explained the venue.

Visitors must pay EUR11 (GBP9.60) to enter the exhibition, which runs from December 3rd 2010 to March 20th 2011.

The arts space closes every Monday and is open from 11:00 local time every other day. It shuts at 19:00 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, while Thursdays and Saturdays see the complex stay open until 22:00.
